During the presidential press conference this Friday, Jesús Esteva, Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, stated that Land communication has been restored in 202 of the 288 communities that were cut off due to the rains and landslides recorded in the states of Hidalgo, Puebla, Veracruz, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí.

The official pointed out that the federal network of more than a thousand kilometers is fully enabled, while from October 14 to 24, more than two hundred locations were reconnected by land.

Regarding the restoration of electrical service, he reported that only 566 homes remain without power in Hidalgo, while Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz already have full supply.

The secretary reported that more than three million cubic meters of material have been removed with the support of 1,210 machines and 17,584 elements of federal and state forces, in addition to 47 helicopters that continue to operate in the so-called “air bridges” to bring aid to the most isolated communities.

For her part, Emilia Calleja, general director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), reported that the restoration of electrical service after the heavy rains in the east and center of the country presents an advance of 99.82%, with the supply already completely restored in Veracruz, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí.

While in Hidalgo there are 466 users still without power.

Calleja explained that nine work camps are maintained in difficult-to-access areas and recognized the support of local communities “who have helped pull cables, raise poles and clear the land.”

In total, the CFE has deployed 1,602 workers, 503 pick-up trucks, 219 cranes, six helicopters, eight drones and backhoes to accelerate the work.

Calleja also reported that, in terms of telecommunications, there are still 43 points without cell phones and 441 without free internet access, with a progress of 55% in their restoration.
