The former Syracuse quarterback has committed to Penn State

Syracuse, NY – Former Syracuse defensive back Ibn McDaniels has committed to play football next season at Penn State.

McDaniels shared his commitment on social media.

McDaniels has three years of eligibility remaining. Last year, he played 109 snaps on defense and another 19 on special teams for the Orange. Eighty of his pictures came as a corner back piece.

Only Davion Kerr played more as a slot machine for the Orange last season than McDaniels. Kerr is set to return next year.

Syracuse struggled to cover slot receivers last year, and McDaniels was part of that problem. According to Pro Football Focus, he gave up a completion 10 of 11 times he was targeted by a defensive back.

McDaniels made two moves. PFF calculated that he also missed two games.

Pro Football Focus ranked him 33rd out of 55 players who saw defensive snaps for the Orange last season.

McDaniels is the fourth Syracuse transfer to land at a Power-Four destination this offseason, joining running back Yasin Willis (Kansas), defensive back Kaylib Singleton (Mississippi State) and long linebacker Ethan Stangle (Alabama).

McDaniels is not currently listed on the On3.com transfer portal.

A native of New Jersey, McDaniels came to Syracuse as the No. 1,220 player in the class of 2024.
