VATICAN CITY (EFE).— Pope Leo
“Let us persevere in invoking the gift of peace for the whole world. Good Monday of the Angel,” said the pontiff from the window of the Apostolic Palace.
From the window of the Apostolic Palace, the pontiff reflected on the “honesty of human communication” and compared the story of the Resurrection with the phenomenon of fake news.
The Pope contrasted the testimony of the women who found the resurrected Jesus with the version of the guards, who denounced that the body was stolen to hide the miracle.
“From the same event, the empty tomb, two interpretations arise: one is a source of new and eternal life, the other is a source of certain and definitive death,” he explained.
In this sense, he stated that nowadays often “the story of the truth is obscured by ‘fake news’, lies, allusions and unfounded accusations.”
“How important it is that this Gospel reaches especially those who are oppressed by evil, which corrupts history and confuses consciences!” the pontiff stressed.
Likewise, Leo XIV had a memory for “people tormented by war, Christians persecuted for their faith and children deprived of education.”
