“platform revealed”XAbout its username selling store, which allows the purchase of inactive usernames exclusively for subscribers to the platform’s paid packages, according to a report published by the “Ingadget” technical website.
The report indicates that the price of some usernames may reach millions of dollars depending on the rarity and uniqueness of the username, as well as the user’s need to maintain his paid subscription to the “X” platform so that the unique username is not withdrawn from him.
The names displayed in the store do not adhere to certain restrictions, and this means that they include user names consisting of a single word, complete sentences, or even names related to local events and have a specific cultural significance, in addition to long or short names, or even consisting of numbers and letters.
The company has not yet explained the mechanism for obtaining the new names, but in general there are two ways so far: either obtaining the name for free through gifts offered by the platform, or obtaining an invitation to purchase the name.
The platform intends to offer a group of names in the form of free gifts to users, as more than one user is allowed to apply for the same name, and the platform team determines the user who gets the name based on a set of factors, including the user’s participation on the platform and his compliance with its usage policies.

As for purchasing names, it is done through a group of special invitations that the platform sends to users who want to obtain the name, and the invitation includes a fixed price for the name.
“X” explained in its statement that the price of rare and distinctive names ranges between $2,500 and millions of dollars, and the price is determined based on the rarity of the name and the rate of demand for it.

Aleman adds that the legal part of the “X” plan is still unclear, especially with users’ willingness to pay millions for some names, as the contract under which the name is withdrawn and given to the new user must be clear and free of legal loopholes.
