The senator for Coahuila, Luis Fernando Salazar Martínezstated that the program The School is Ours (READ) operates under a solid structure of technical control, supervision and co-responsibility between the three levels of government, with the purpose of guaranteeing the safety and quality of educational infrastructure throughout the country.
He explained that, since its creation in 2019 and until 2024, the program has allowed intervene in 2,876 school buildings in the state of Coahuilawith a investment greater than 1,469 million pesosthrough construction, rehabilitation, expansion and adaptation of educational spaces.
Salazar specified that the actions of the LEEN program are not limited to minor repairs, but are executed in accordance with state and federal building regulations, with the participation of technical managers and supervision of authorities competent.
“It is not about giving money to families without control. Each project has a technical manager who must ensure the structural safety of the property and comply with local and federal regulations. If something fails, it must be investigated and punished in accordance with the law,” he stressed.

The senator insisted that LEEN is a program with clear rules, control mechanisms and citizen participationwhich has benefited thousands of educational communities in the country. “What happened in this case is a painful exception, not the rule. An effort that has transformed thousands of schools with transparency and co-responsibility cannot be disqualified,” he emphasized.
Likewise, he reported that, given recent events, the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) The federal government proposed establishing a joint working group with the state educational authority, in order to strengthen supervision mechanisms and avoid the execution of works without prior technical opinions.
“The commitment of the Federal Government is clear: act responsibly, review the processes and guarantee that no family ever faces a tragedy due to structural failures. Confidence in public education is also built with safe and transparent works,” Salazar concluded.
