The sequel to the first “The Simpsons” movie, released in the summer of 2007, already has an official release date.
20th Century in alliance with Disney, announced the date on which the second film of the yellow family will be released and apparently it will hit theaters on July 23, 2027, after a 20-year hiatus on the big screen.

The film replaced an untitled Marvel project and the audiovisual company mentions that the film is already in development and they warn that it will have 2D animation like its predecessor, However, it could have certain adjustments once production has advanced.
Regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney announced that there will no longer be a project between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars and that they will tentatively premiere on December 18, 2026 and December 17, 2027 respectively.
On the other hand, regarding the plot of the film, Disney and 20th Century have not confirmed what it will be about and whether it will bring back all the characters created by Matt Groening more than 36 years ago.
Finally, the series “The Simpsons” was renewed for a 40th season, which will air between 2028 and 2029.
