Israeli Channel 15, quoting a security source, revealed that the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), contacted the families of the prisoners on the day of their release from Israeli SIM cards, video conversations that everyone later watched.
According to the channel, these SIM cards were placed in certain places in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli army with the aim of collecting information about the Israeli prisoners, but a number of these SIM cards were activated a few hours before the prisoners’ handover process, and the prisoners’ families received phone calls from them.

Before the release of the captured soldiers last Monday, the movement’s shadow unit had allowed them to speak with their families by telephone.
A member of the unit spoke in Hebrew to the family of a prisoner and asked them to publish the video and deliver it to the media, so that all Israeli media outlets would publish scenes of the prisoners talking with their families from the resistance prisons.
The shadow unit is surrounded by a lot of secrecy, due to the sensitivity of the mission for which it was established, which is “securing Israeli prisoners” in the Gaza Strip and keeping them in the “circle of the unknown,” to ensure successful prisoner exchanges with the occupying state.
Its existence was revealed for the first time 10 years after its founding in 2016, after assuming the mission of securing the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, which ended in a successful prisoner exchange deal.
