the strategic obsession I want to achieve

To understand the current obsessed North Americans, we were afraid to recover for a short time, starting in 1989. On the other hand, many leaders are clear as the conclusion of an alternative model of liberal democracy and globalization. Houve até quem, com exagero, ordered o fim da História. As if you were, you weren’t.

In China, the regime that, since the death of Mao Zedong, with two systems, economic freedom and the absolute absence of political freedom – Stalinist capitalism, if we can put it this way – has shown tremendous resilience. And completely destroyed at the expense of many things, of which economic freedom leads to political freedom. Nowadays, like Xi Jinping, who insists that “the party is at the top of everything”.

As for Russia, after a broken democratic society dreams of being able to match Vladimir Putin’s leaders almost always. And if the country has relative economic weight, the new Tsar will have to use Russia’s vast military arsenal to ensure his presence at the international dinner.

The current dynamics of globalization in recent decades has allowed us to see that a number of media could emerge: Brazil, India, Indonesia, South Korea, etc. No G20 or us BRICS, let’s put a word to raise the fate of our world. Furthermore, we cannot ignore the “recreation” where only Russia, China and the EU reside, and why we will (mis)tolerate the European Union in various forms bullying by himself and others, largely because of his dependence on himself and others.

The moment in which everything really starts to change will appear as a pandemic. As global addictions, lacking the idea of a happy globalization for everyone, they took a brutal form: medicines made in India or masks and ventilators made in China were destroyed in a total health emergency in many other countries. From there begins the inflection that leads to the paradox of the current North American administration.

According to their present doctrine, the factories specify that they should be national only; or access to the US market is through investment… in the United States economy. Globalization needs to be felt, which is why our representatives advocate. It is certain that the logic of capitalist extractivism is preserved: the (mis)concept that the planetary availability of resources must be reduced to the service of man as a mere consumer, from fashion to electronic devices.

Washington’s logic is essentially to concentrate its greatest possible resources without depending on one person. Try to see the entire continent: from Venezuela, by oil, to Panama, by shipping; the passage of Greenland, perceived at the same time as a barrier of military protection, the key to controlling the Arctic and a territory rich in rare earths necessary for current technologies; like Canada, I am now an American since independence.

The historical parts of Washington in our geography, especially the Europeans, do not have much importance, nor will they potentially interfere with Pequim and Moscow’s attempts to expand their power, so they are only auxiliary.

This admiralty of the new Trumpian world is missing, to be sure, not the narcissistic ego of the current North American president, but rather ideas supported by well-identified ideologues. It is her logic that is most powerfully applied to the fate of the world; and in parallel one is stronger on an internal level as well, with evident sins of political illiberalism and at the same time autocratic drift.

Understanding this America is the best form of lidar there is. Because it’s little evidence that even after this administration, that strategic line has been profoundly changed, no matter what happens to it.

Or “America First” veio para ficar.
