USA carried out an attack on a ‘drug boat’ allegedly loaded with drugs in the Pacific Ocean, which left three survivors, the US military reported Friday.
Thursday’s attack hit a “low-profile vessel (that) was navigating known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and was involved in drug trafficking operations,” the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said in a post on X.
SOUTHCOM did not provide a death toll, saying only that the Coast Guard was notified. “immediately” so that the search for three survivors could begin.

In September, the United States began a campaign of attacks against ships in the Pacific and the Caribbean in which more than 150 suspected drug traffickers have died.

In no case has it provided conclusive evidence that the attacking vessels and the murdered crew members are involved in drug trafficking, which has sparked a heated debate about the legality of the operations.
International law experts and human rights organizations maintain that the attacks likely amount to extrajudicial executions, as they have apparently targeted civilians who pose no threat to the United States.
