Starting this Wednesday, October 15, the public transport fare of the State of Mexico (Edomex) will experience an increase, so thousands of users will have to adjust their budget to travel in the units, although, according to official sources, some will not have to pay more.

The announcement of this increase was notified by the entity’s authorities in the Government Gazette. The agreement that authorizes the increase in the cost of transportation comes after months of pressure from the concessionaires for an update in the amounts.

How much does public transportation cost in the State of Mexico after the increase?

According to the information sheet published in the Gazette, the cost will be 14 pesos for the first 5 kilometers. 25 cents will be charged for each additional kilometer, although it was specified that to facilitate payment, it will be rounded to the closest multiple of 50 cents.

Who is exempt from the fare increase on public transportation?

The official document details that children under 5 years old will be able to travel free of charge and occupy one of the seats. In addition, a preferential rate of 12 pesos will be maintained for older adults who present the Inapam credential. Discounts for students and people with disabilities also remain in force.
