OSLO, Norway.— This Sunday, authorities reported that the norwegian police was investigating a burst occurred during the early morning outside the US embassy in Oslothe capital of the Scandinavian country.

The explosion was caused by some type of incendiary device, according to Frode Larsenleader of the Oslo police joint unit for investigation and intelligence. Authorities believe the U.S. Embassy was the target and are searching for those responsible and their motive.
Larsen said the entrance to the building was damaged, but no arrests have been made.
“We are at an early stage of the investigation, but we are working on multiple hypotheses,” Larsen said in a statement. “Given the current security situation, it is natural to consider whether this was a attack directed against the embassy United States. However, we have not committed to any particular hypothesis.”

Local media reported that people who were nearby said that the street was covered in a thick smoke after the explosion. The police intend to speak with witnesses.
Terrorist threat level remains
PST, the Norwegian police security service, called in additional staff following the incident but has not changed the level of terrorist threat of the country, according to the communications advisor Martin Bernsen.
“This is an unacceptable incident that is being treated with the utmost seriousness,” he stressed. Astri Aas-HansenMinister of Justice and Public Security of Norway.
“Police have stated that they are investigating the case with significant resources, and that there is nothing to indicate that the situation represents any danger to the public,” he added.
The US Embassy in Oslo referred media inquiries to the US State Department, which has not immediately responded to a request for comment. Neither did the Oslo police. No other details were available.
