In the final part of the hurricane season, Tropical storm ‘Melissa’ has formed in the Caribbean Sea region. Due to the risk of it evolving into a hurricane, meteorological authorities remain aware of its path.

Through an information sheet, the National Water Commission (Conagua) and the National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported the presence of this natural phenomenon. Currently, tropical storm ‘Melissa’ is located 480 km south of Port-au-Prince, Haiti and 1,765 km east-southeast of the coast of Quintana Roo.
In addition to that, It has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/hgusts of 100 km/h and movement towards the west at 22 km/h. According to Conagua estimates, it is expected to strengthen as the days go by as it enters the Caribbean Sea.
Will Tropical Storm ‘Melissa’ Affect Mexico?
According to the federal agency, currently This meteorological phenomenon does not represent any risk for our country. However, they are keeping it under surveillance in case the storm changes route towards the Yucatan Peninsula.
In addition, the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezamareiterated that his government also maintains surveillance over this phenomenon. Along with this, he invited citizens to remain informed only through official media.

This storm is expected to have effects mainly in Haiti, Jamaica, part of the Dominican Republic and part of southern Cuba.
