Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced late in the evening on Wednesday, October 9, that Israel and Hamas “signed the first phase” of the peace plan in the round of negotiations taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

The announcement was made by the North American leader on his Truth Social social media account: “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL hostages will be released very soon and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line as the first step towards a strong, lasting and eternal peace.”

In the same publication, Trump guarantees that “all parties will be treated fairly”, adding that “this is a GREAT day for the Arab and Muslim world, for Israel, for all neighboring nations and the USA”. In this sense, he thanked the mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye for reaching a “historic and unprecedented” decision.
