UEFA fines Benfica for racism against Vinicius Júnior in a Champions League game

UEFA punished Benfica for the racist acts of fans against Real Madrid player Vinicius Júnior in the February Champions League match in Lisbon. The entity fined the Portuguese club 40 thousand euros and ordered the closure of 500 seats at Estádio da Luz if there is a repeat offense.

During the game, several racist insults against the Brazilian were heard and recorded on video. Until now, five fans were identified and suspended by the team. In the same match, Vini Jr. accused Argentine player Luca Prestianni of racism, but UEFA has not yet made a decision on this investigation.
