The North American Secretary of Defense announced this Wednesday, October 15, that there will be more weapons from the United States of America (USA) in NATO to achieve “peace through force” and said he hopes for a peaceful resolution soon to the conflict in Ukraine.

“Mark [Rutte, secretário-geral Aliança Atlântica] He talked about that, more weapons, that’s what’s on the way”, said Pete Hegseth at the entrance to a ministerial meeting at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in Brussels, Belgium.

The US Secretary of War (formerly the Department of Defense until the name was changed a month ago) revealed that the purchase of US weapons by European NATO countries is soon to be used by Ukraine against Russia and “achieve peace”.

“If there is one thing we learned from President [dos EUA, Donald] Trump is the enforcement of peace through force; We achieve peace when we are strong, not when we use strong words or wave our fingers”, he commented.

Pete Hegseth said he hopes that peace in Ukraine will be achieved soon, but did not reveal any date for this desire, limiting himself to praising the President of the United States of America: “I think the world is seeing that he is a President of peace, who seeks peace by supporting the countries that are with the USA and that want peace […] and that’s what I hope we achieve in Ukraine.”

The rulers of NATO’s 32 member states are discussing today at the political-military organization’s headquarters support for Ukraine as winter approaches and the lessons learned from the last two years, with the intensification of Russian bombing of Ukrainian energy infrastructures and a practically non-existent movement of conflict lines, due to the deterioration of conditions on the ground.

At the start of the ministerial meeting, Pete Hegseth did not speak about the possibility of Ukraine receiving, directly from the USA or through acquisitions made by European member states, the long-range BGM-109 Tomahawk missiles, which could reach Russian cities, military and energy infrastructures that are even deeper inside the country.
