A woman was arrested this Tuesday, October 7th, for the alleged crime of arson in a building, for having set fire to her neighbor’s house on August 18th, in the parish of Lamaçães, in Braga.
“In a context of bad neighborhood, after questioning a resident of the adjoining fraction, the suspect provided herself with accelerating liquid, spilling it on the neighbor’s door, igniting it with a direct flame and returning to her home”said the Judiciary Police (PJ) in a statement sent to newsrooms.
Inside the burned apartment there were several people who, upon encountering the flames at the door, used objects and water to help themselves, managing to extinguish them with some difficulty. Even so, they prevented the fire from spreading to the house and the rest of the building, where dozens of people live.
The suspect, a 54-year-old woman, detained outside of the act of committing a crime, has a criminal history, “being associated with the authorship of crimes of different natures.”
The steps carried out by the PJ allowed the collection of “solid evidentiary elements”, which led to the arrest of the suspect, who will be presented to the judicial authority for first interrogation and application of coercive measures.
