In April 2024, the Judiciary Police detected a page on the Instagram application and restricted groups on the Telegram application advertising the sale of narcotic products, namely cannabis, in its various forms. Now, he has arrested a young couple, suspected of carrying out an illicit business, namely producing, advertising and selling drugs to a wide range of customers.
The arrest of the two young people, aged 25 and 29, took place on Tuesday, October 14, as part of an operation launched through the Northern Directorate in Cantanhede and Vagos.
The PJ explains in a statement that, since the detection of such online pages where the sale of drugs was advertised, the investigation was able to identify and locate the administrators of these platforms, determining that, following the orders they received, they sent the illicit products through the postal parcel service, both nationally and abroad.
At the suspects’ residence, the PJ found two greenhouses intended for growing the cannabis plant and seized a narcotic product ready for sale – leaves and extracts, resin and cannabis oil – as well as paraphernalia of items associated with the business, a firearm and a bladed weapon.
Two cars and various computer equipment were also seized.
The two detainees have no criminal record and will be present this Wednesday for their first judicial interrogation to apply coercive measures.
