Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated Thursday, October 16, upon arrival in Washington that the threat of the United States supplying Tomahawk missiles to Kiev led Russian President Vladimir Putin to rush to resume peace talks.

“Putin is certainly not braver than Hamas or any other terrorist. The language of force and justice will inevitably work against Russia as well. We can already see that Moscow is rushing to resume dialogue as soon as it learned about the Tomahawks,” Zelensky said on the social network X.

The Kremlin indicated this Thursday that it was preparing a new meeting between Putin and Trump, information also provided by the North American president after a telephone conversation lasting “almost two and a half hours” between the two, initiated by Moscow.

“We hope that the impulse to contain terrorism and the war that has borne fruit in the Middle East will help to put an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine”, said in the message Zelensky, who will have a meeting with Trump on Friday.
