Delhi-NCR Weather Update: When will it rain in Delhi, Noida and Gurugram? The IMD forecast signals a reversal of weather in the coming days

After moderate rainfall hit Delhi on Tuesday, Delhi is likely to be generally cloudy with shallow fog during the morning hours on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 17 to 19 degrees Celsius and 11 to 13 degrees Celsius respectively. Similar weather conditions were also predicted for Noida and Gurugram. While Noida is likely to experience mist or fog during the early hours of the morning, Gurugram is most likely to witness clear skies on January 28.

On Tuesday, rain lashed several parts of the Delhi-NCR region accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Light rainfall was recorded in parts of Delhi during the morning hours. According to official data, Palam received 3.4 mm of rainfall, Ridge 3.0 mm and Pitampura 2.0 mm in three hours between 8.30 am and 11.30 am.

A sudden change in weather and unexpected rain provided marginal relief to citizens from pollution. Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Mundaka and Jafarpur witnessed thunderstorm activity with moderate to heavy rainfall, said the IMD, which issued red and orange warnings for several districts of Delhi on Tuesday.

Delhi will see rain on February 1, says IMD

The Met office in its latest weather bulletin said that New Delhi will see a generally cloudy sky with one or two showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) on February 1, 2026. As far as Noida is concerned, generally cloudy skies with light rain are forecast for February 2.

In its bulletin for Delhi, the IMD said, “Increase in minimum temperatures by 4-5°C during the next 24 hours and decrease by 5-6°C in the next three days followed by an increase of 5-6°C. As a result, minimum temperatures are likely to be well above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) on &-28 February to 28 February 1 -3.0°C) on 31 January 2026 and normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) on 29 and 30 January 2026.”

The Met Department has predicted generally cloudy skies for the next seven days except on January 29 and 31. “Shallow to moderate fog in the morning hours from January 28 to February 2, 2026,” he added. Light rain and strong winds in Delhi NCR brought temperatures down across the city, making the winter harsher. After intermittent rain and winds gusting at 30-40 kmph, the air quality improved noticeably in several parts of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad. Additionally, Delhi witnessed the coldest Republic Day in 5 years as parts of the capital experienced extreme cold waves on Monday (January 26). The temperature dropped to 3.6 degrees Celsius yesterday as people felt the tremors across the city.

Dense fog likely in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana

Dense fog is likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during morning and night hours from January 28 to 30. Similar conditions are expected in Uttarakhand on January 29 and 30, while Uttar Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and foghar may experience heavy28 on January 29.

Cold waves are likely to occur over isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh from January 29 to 31 and over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh from January 28 to 31. Meanwhile, cold days are expected in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh on January 27.
