According to online platform Koreaboo, one immensely debated rumor claims that Fan “betrayed” Yu to advance his own career. Fan denied the rumors, and his studio released an official statement that included Yu’s final work schedule to clarify the timelines.
Rumors about Alan Yu and Fan Shiqi and the voice recording
The rumors linking Alan Yu to Fan continued to spread despite the initial clarification. Now, a recording has circulated, allegedly recorded by mobile users, purportedly capturing Fan abusing Yu, according to Vision Times. The purported recording was subjected to voiceprint analysis and claimed to match Fan’s voice at 99.57 percent.

A screenshot also surfaced showing a post on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, from Fan’s verified account confessing, “Yes, I killed Yu Menglong,” The Vision Times reported. The post was, however, deleted within minutes, and no verification has confirmed its authenticity. “No matter how much you act wildly, you can’t touch me. Yes, I killed Yu Menglong because he deserved it,” the note allegedly read.
Yu Menglong’s death
The death of Menglong, 37, sent shockwaves through China’s entertainment industry. The police officials dubbed the actor’s death an “accidental fall after drinking” and dismissed any criminal suspicion.
Yu’s agency and his mother also confirmed that he died after falling from a building and was drunk that night. Despite all the claims, social media was flooded with rumors suggesting that the actor’s fall was not accidental and he was tortured. Many people also suspected that the real reason behind his death is being covered up; there are illicit backstage dealings being done.
Multiple reports that surfaced online have claimed that on the day of his death, Yu attended a gathering of 17 people. Since the actor’s deaths, several video and audio clips have surfaced claiming that alcohol or drugs were forcibly administered and that physical aggression took place, according to The Vision Times.
In one leaked audio clip, someone was heard shouting, “Spit it out! Hurry, Hu Haiyang, knock him out!” Netizens widely speculate the voice belongs to Fan Shiqi. The audio clip was reportedly sent to an independent forensic team in South Korea, and analysts claim a 99.57% voice match to Fan’s voice.
Some allege that a USB drive was found inside Yu’s body, containing evidence of money laundering in the entertainment world—and that individuals may have resorted to violence to retrieve it.
