TIZIMÍN.— The use of clean energy is gaining ground in the region, driven by the economic savings it represents and its contribution to caring for the environment.

In the communities and in the municipal capital, more and more homes, businesses and public agencies are opting for solar panels as a sustainable and efficient alternative.

Even the Tizimín City Council itself has begun to implement solar energy systems in public buildings, such as the Municipal Palace and drinking water pumps, with positive results in reducing electricity consumption.

Rodrigo Gutiérrez Aguilar, pioneer in the installation of solar panels and irrigation systems with renewable energy in the area, explained the progress in this city.

Currently, hybrid solutions are offered that allow the electricity supply to continue even when the CFE network is interrupted, thanks to lithium batteries.

“With this system, energy savings range from 40 to 60 percent, depending on the user’s consumption,” said the specialist.

As an example, he gave a client who paid even 10 thousand pesos every two months for the use of air conditioning. With an approximate investment of 80 thousand pesos in solar panels, he recovered his capital in just over a year. “Today your electricity bill comes in at 59 pesos.”

Currently, bifacial panels are being introduced into the market, capable of capturing energy from both sides, even taking advantage of the light reflected on light-colored walls, he explained.

“It is cutting-edge technology that not only saves money, but also protects the environment: there is no cutting down of trees and pollution is reduced,” he noted.— Wendy Ucán Chan

Service life

Modern solar panels are designed to have a lifespan of 25 to 30 years, and require minimal maintenance (mainly occasional cleaning), ensuring a long return on investment.

Greater attraction

A home equipped with a solar photovoltaic system becomes more attractive in the real estate market. The facility is perceived as a capital improvement.
