Mexico City, October 25 (However).- Armed forces arrested yesterday in Tamaulipas a Juana “N”alias “The Count” and three more people, alleged members of the Gulf Cartelwho were dedicated to smuggling armas y drugs in the region, reported the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).

“Lines of investigation and intelligence work related to arms trafficking, narcotics and money laundering allowed us to locate three properties in the municipality of Matamoros that were used by a criminal cell to carry out illicit acts,” explained the SSPC.

The authorities indicated that they carried out surveillance operations thanks to which they obtained the necessary evidence data that was delivered to a control judge, who issued the search warrants. Elements from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN) and the State Attorney General’s Office participated in the operation.

During the simultaneous operations, four alleged members of the criminal group were arrested, including Juana María “N”, alias “La Conta”, accused of her alleged participation in arms trafficking, drugs and money laundering operations.

In the searched homes, seven firearms, chargers, 150 cartridges of various calibers, a vehicle, a safe, $20,600, six laptop computers, six cell phones and various documentation related to criminal activity were seized.

The detainees were informed of their rights and placed at the disposal of the agent of the federal Public Ministry, who will define their legal situation. The intervened properties were under the protection of the competent authorities.
