Los Angeles, October 19 (LaOpinión).- The selection of Morocco wrote a golden page in its history by beating 2-0 Argentina in the final of the Mundial sub-20 of Chile 2025. With a double from Yassir Zabiri, the African team won the title world of the category, in a match played at the National Stadium of Santiago.
From the first minutes, Morocco showed a plan game Of course: intensity, defensive order and quick transitions. The selection argentinafor its part, tried to impose its style of possession, but found it difficult to break the rival lines. At 12 minutes, a free kick taken by Zabiri hit goalkeeper Santino Barbi in the left corner. It was 1-0 and the start of an unforgettable night for the Africans.
Despite the blow, Argentina did not lower its arms. Gianluca Prestianni and Maher Carrizo tried to equalize with mid-range shots, although without success. Morocco took advantage of the spaces and, in the 29th minute, Othmane Maamma overflowed from the right and assisted Zabiri again, who scored 2-0 with his left foot. The advantage, deserved by efficiency and discipline, marked the course of the match.

Argentina tried, but the Moroccan team resisted firmly
In the complement, the team led by Diego Placente tried to react with the arrivals of Santiago Fernández and Tobías Andrada, who contributed energy to the attack. However, the Moroccan defense, led by Ibrahim Gomis in goal, remained impenetrable. The South Americans controlled the ball, but lacked clarity in the final stretch. Each attempt crashed against the African tactical wall.
The last plays reflected Argentine desperation and Moroccan calm. The North Africans knew how to cool down the game, take advantage of fouls and keep the pace under control until the final whistle. With the final 2-0, Morocco not only became U-20 world champion, but also became the second African country to do so, after Ghana in 2009.
The performance of Yassir Zabiri – author of the two goals and undisputed figure in the final – was key for a team that beat powers such as Brazil, the United States and France on its way to the title. Argentina, seeking its seventh crown, was left with the frustration of a final in which it never found answers against a rival that struck at the right moments and intelligently defended a historic victory.
