In this installment of VERSUS the issue of the relaunch of the PAN was addressed, an act that has received strong criticism from President Claudia Sheinbaum and the Morena leadership who agreed that the party seeks to “refresh itself” but maintains the same “unpresentable” characters as always.
Mexico City, October 20 (However).- The recent relaunch of the National Action Party (PAN)with which the blue and white team seeks to project an image of renewal with the presentation of a new logo, was just an act to attract attention since the same faces and structures that have been accused of corruption and bad political practices prevail, the journalists maintained. Ana Lilia Pérez, Alina Duarte, Perla Velázquez and Alejandro Páez.
Ana Lilia Pérez pointed out that the PAN image change, accompanied by the digital affiliation announcement “with a single click,” was limited to a cosmetic operation without political substance or self-criticism.
“A lot of paraphernalia in that launch. They wanted to be mysterious, they began to leak data to the press, and in the end we saw pure marketing. A new logo was announced, but that was the least of it,” he said.
The academic assured that one of the main problems of this relaunch of the PAN is that it is headed by Jorge Romero Herrera, a politician accused of extortion and leading the so-called Real Estate Cartel.
“They try to give an idea of modernity by saying that you can join with a single click; it’s like ordering a pizza, it’s that empty. That strategy starts off badly since we see a young man, Jorge Romero, but with bad tricks, linked to the Real Estate Cartel.”
For his part, Alejandro Páez compared the PAN relaunch to a marketing strategy for a worn-out product.
“There is a relaunch of the PAN as if it were a product. The problem is that if you relaunch some ‘penguins’, you would expect them to no longer have as much sugar or trans fats. But if you have Jorge Romero at the helm, that means making extortion official from a political party,” he expressed.
The journalist pointed out that the current leadership of the PAN is synonymous with corruption and this weekend’s event only seeks to cover up the same faces as always.
“The entire environment of the national president of the PAN is extortion, it is corruption. They are very rotten people. You relaunch the PAN, you relaunch it with elements that are rotten, rancid, the logo is the least important thing if you are going to put a rotten pancake inside.”

On October 18, Jorge Romero Herrera, national leader of the PAN, presented the new logo of his political organization, which is part of a “relaunch” given the poor results obtained in the last federal elections by the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
The new image of the PAN was announced after an event to relaunch the party and a march that started from the Monument to the Revolution. The logo eliminated the blue circle from the previous figure, exchanging it for two curves that surround the party’s initials, which show a slight inclination to the right, while the colors of said symbol are more intense, reaching shades of black.
At the ceremony, Romero Herrera reiterated part of the principles of National Action and assured that there will be no alliances towards the midterm elections of 2027, after the fiasco of the PRIAN alliance, designed by businessman Claudio
The announcement was criticized this day by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo who questioned the lack of sensitivity of the PAN for making its presentation when thousands of people are suffering the consequences of the devastating rains and floods in various parts of the center of the country, and by pointing out the presence of the same political figures as always among the right.
“I would rather say that there was very little sensitivity on the day they did it to begin with, that is, there are tens of thousands of families affected, with problems, and in the middle of that a political party is relaunched. They could have waited 15 days, right? Until we defined that the emergency was lifted,” he said in his morning press conference.
Meanwhile, journalist Perla Velázquez pointed out that the PAN has tried to reappropriate symbols and strategies historically associated with the left, such as mobilization in the streets, to hide its loss of connection with citizens.
“The PAN has had to take to the streets because it is bad, because it is in crisis, because people no longer want to see them either,” he indicated. “In this launch they returned to their most conservative bases, to exalt the homeland, the family and freedom, insisting on the discourse that Mexico lives under an authoritarian government.”
The communicator pointed out that the PAN seeks to return to its bases and will continue to exploit a false discourse that Mexico lives in an authoritarian regime.
“In this launch they repeated the same thing, they returned to their bases, to be more right-wing, they returned to putting the country, the family, freedom on the table and continuing to exalt this message that in Mexico we live under an authoritarian government and that we must try to get rid of it.”
Finally, Alina Duarte criticized that the PAN relaunch act only evidenced the decline of an opposition without renewal or self-criticism.
“It was announced these days that it seemed to be a great relaunch of the PAN and it seems that the only thing that was relaunched was a logo like Captain America’s shield. We see faces very similar to what we have seen during all these years. They are the same as always, they are the same faces, it is not only a Toby club, they are people who have dismantled this country, who have increased poverty, inequalities, who have concentrated wealth. They are people who have done a lot of damage to this country.”
