ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka average coconut prices rose 6.8 percent at the weekly coconut auction on Thursday, Coconut Development Authority (CDA) data showed.
The average price for 1,000 nuts was 138,581.96 rupees on October 2.
However, CDA has continued to not declare the highest or lowest price for a nut at the weekly auctions.
“Only the average price is there,” CDA officials told EconomyNext.
The number of nuts offered climbed to 682,300 from 394,279 a week earlier, while nuts sold moved to 578,265 from 350,130.
In the local market, the wholesale price for a large nut was 180-190 rupees, while small nuts were 150-170 a piece on October 2.
Retail prices for nuts were between 195-205 rupees at supermarkets.
The Farmgate price in Kurunegala was 125-150 rupees a nut.
Copra was 100,000 to 125,000 rupees per 250 kg.
Local wholesale prices of coconut oil were 800,000 to 950,000 rupees per metric ton. (Colombo/Oct03/2025)
