This is the explanation of the situation that Tulum is going through
Terminal del Infierno.- A few days ago the video of a taxi driver went viral harassing and offending a foreign tourist and an Uber driver, which has already provoked reactions.
In the clip, the subject, “based in Tulum,” is seen confronting the platform driver for supposedly taking a ticket to the airport, something that “is prohibited” in his world.
🚨 Taxi drivers, Tulum:
Because we already have another reason why no one wants to go to the tourist sites in Quintana Roo.
🙄
An Uber driver was harassed by a taxi mob while picking up an American.

They asked him to report and give his “moche.”

In the images, the same tourist can be seen asking the subject—not to mention gorilla— to get out of the way, after which he proceeds to attack and threaten them as if he were defending the last concession in the Caribbean.
The Tulúm taxi driver will have to learn another trade
“Sorry, friend, it’s the Tulum mafia, these filthy taxi drivers.”the Uber driver tells the client, apologizing for the very existence of these individuals who have affected tourism in the country so much.
As we said, the video fortunately went viral and reached the authorities, who finally “took action on the matter” and proceeded to investigate the facts.
“In response to these facts, IMOVEQROO has ordered the definitive suspension of the responsible operator, prohibiting him from driving under any form of public transportation in the entity.”declared the Mobility Institute of the State of Quintana Roo (IMOVEQROO).
Tulum had one of the worst tourism seasons ever this year.
Hotel occupancies are down 50% in certain areas. 😳
High prices, sargassum, and limited access to beaches are all contributing to this decline. pic.twitter.com/HYOvaUe9Dh

“This institute acts with firmness and authority, guaranteeing that abuses will not be tolerated. All sanctions contemplated by law will be applied to eradicate conduct that threatens the safety and well-being of citizens.”added the agency.
In this environment we still do not understand why governments prefer to look good with these tiny unions with mafia pretenses, instead of taking care of national and foreign tourism.
The situation that Tulum is going through could well be reason enough to prohibit these powerful groups from continuing to do their thing… or at least not double parking while they do it.
