MÉRIDA.- After 12 years of operation, the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) officially concluded its activities and announced the closure of its institutional accounts on social networks.
Since yesterday, the regulatory body stopped serving users and concessionaires, marking the end of a stage in the regulation of telecommunications and broadcasting in Mexico.

In a message broadcast on its official channels, the Institute reported that its profiles will remain inactive and expressed its gratitude to Mexican society for the trust placed over more than a decade.
“We say goodbye with pride for what was built and with deep gratitude to society for the trust placed in this regulatory body,” the IFT said in its final statement.
End of a regulatory stage
The organization highlighted that, during its existence, it worked with technical independence, institutional commitment and a focus on promotion of competition and the protection of user rights. He stressed that his actions sought to promote efficient development of telecommunications and broadcasting, as well as strengthen connectivity throughout the country.

The IFT, which in its last stage was headed by the president commissioner Javier Juárez Mojicawished success to the authorities that make up the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT)the new body that will assume the functions of regulation and supervision of the sector.
“We wish the greatest success to the authorities who will assume responsibility for regulating the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, as well as guaranteeing economic competition in Mexico,” added the farewell message.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission is born
He Senate of the Republic recently ratified the members of the CRT plenary session, which will replace the IFT. The new body will be made up of Ice cream Mackensie Méndez González, María de las Mercedes Olivares Tresgallo, Adán Salazar Garibay, Tania Villa Trapala y Norma Solano Rodríguez.
Although the institutional transition has already been approved, the federal government has not yet completely defined the operational scheme nor the administrative structure of the new commission. Twelve years of supervision and resolutions
