VATICAN CITY (EFE).— The Pope Leo XIV moved yesterday to Ostia, on the coast of Romato greet the young people who participated in the initiative “School of Peace”, sailing for eight months in the Mediterranean, to whom he said that “forgiveness is essential to achieve peace.”
“This type of experience offers an extraordinary insight into the joys and difficulties of building relationships with people from different backgrounds and then working together toward a common goal,” praised the Pope inside the sailboat.
And he added: “There may have been moments of discomfort and discouragementbut it is precisely in those moments when we manage to grow and mature in our understanding of ourselves and also of the other person.”
He highlighted that “Working for peace requires a certain maturity and altruism to understand each other’s needs and then collaborate in finding a solution that allows everyone to thrive.”
“Peace: in fact, only when we abandon prejudice, resentment or bitterness and receive forgiveness for our mistakes, can we first receive the gift of peace and then share it with others,” he stressed.
He asked the young people that when they return home they remember the lessons learned and use them to promote dialogue.
He “Beautiful Hope” it’s a french training ship which has sailed the Mediterranean since March with close 200 young people from different countries and religions to promote peace and dialogue. He “MED25” project Organized by several associations, it set sail in March from Tetouan and docked in 30 ports in these eight months, connecting the five shores of the sea.
