TIZIMÍN.— What seemed like a normal week of classes turned into a nightmare for Evelyn MA, mother of a nine-year-old student at the “Manuel Alcalá y Alcalá” elementary school, who reported to the State Attorney General’s Office the sexual abuse of which her daughter had been a victim by a teacher at the school.
According to the mother’s story, a couple of weeks ago she began to notice drastic changes in her daughter’s behavior. Because of how happy and participatory she was, she suddenly began to appear subdued, without appetite, wanting only to sleep.
Evelyn thought it was tiredness from school activities and carnival rehearsals; However, last Monday the 13th, when talking to the minor at night, she burst into tears and confessed that she was a victim of improper acts at school.
The incident would have occurred in the campus bathrooms, before recess. The minor pointed out that Professor Miguel SN, who teaches classes on the same campus, but in a different classroom than the minor, was responsible.
The mother remembered with anger and pain that that same day she greeted the teacher without imagining what had happened.
“It was the worst news of my life, I never thought something like this could happen to my daughter at school, much less with someone we considered respectful,” the woman said with a lump in her throat.
After hearing the confession that they had touched her daughter’s private parts, the mother went to school the next day (Tuesday the 14th) and a meeting was held with the director César Mazún Aké and the school zone supervisor, Efraín Palomo Fuentes, who heard the statement and suggested that the girl receive psychological attention.
The complaint was filed days later with the Prosecutor’s Office, being recorded under file number UNATD15-GH/1768/2025.
The minor was also subjected to medical studies at the San Carlos de Tizimín Hospital.
They activate protocol
Currently, the girl has not returned to school due to the emotional damage suffered. His mother demanded that justice be done and that the authorities act in accordance with the law.
In this regard, the director reported that the institution immediately activated the protocol established by the Secretary of Education of the State of Yucatán (Segey) in the event of any report of this nature.
“It is suspended to guarantee the safety of minors, pending investigations, everything remains in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office and Prodenay.”
“We as a school cannot give an opinion or take sides, only comply with the procedures,” he indicated.
Mazún Aké specified that the teacher has restricted access to the campus while the process lasts, and that Segey has already assigned a new teacher to teach the group.
The absence without a teacher only lasted 24 hours.— WENDY UCAN CHAN
