Mexico City, October 22 (However).- The President of the USA, Donald Trumpstarted this week with the demolition of the east wing of the White Housewith the aim of building a luxurious dance hall what will it cost 250 million dollars and which will be financed, in accordance with the republican magnateby funds from private donors.

“We are building a ballroom. They have wanted a ballroom for 150 years, and I give that honor to this wonderful place,” the US president declared on Monday, when he welcomed two Louisiana State University (LSU) baseball teams to the White House.

Later, Trump officially announced the start of construction of the new ballroom on his Truth Social account. It will be the largest addition to the US presidential mansion in more than a century.

Images of work teams that demolished part of the east wing of the historic building went viral on social networks. A mechanical excavator razed the façade and exposed a mass of broken masonry, debris and steel cables, according to journalists present at the site.

“I am pleased to announce the beginning of construction on the White House grounds of the new, grand, beautiful ballroom,” Trump wrote. He added that the east wing was being “completely modernised” and will be “prettier than ever when complete”.

The East Wing of the White House is where the first ladies of the United States traditionally have their office. The President works in the West Wing and the presidential couple lives in the mansion.

Last week, Trump held a lavish dinner at the White House for donors to the new room. Among the guests were representatives of technology giants such as Amazon, Apple, Meta, Google, Microsoft and Palantir, among others, all with large contracts or businesses with the Government.

It is the most extensive overhaul of the White House that Trump has done since returning to power in January, including gold decorations in the Oval Office and paving of the Rose Garden.

Trump also revealed plans to build a triumphal arch in Washington, which has been dubbed the “Trump Arch.”
