O Louvre Museumem Paris, this Sunday was the scene of a robbery, com eight jewels of incalculable heritage value to be subtracted. Among them, the crown of Empress Eugéniawife of Napoleon III, who was abandoned by thieves and is now being evaluated.

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau described the perpetrators as four men with their faces coveredwho escaped the scene on high-powered scooters, leaving authorities and museum security experts perplexed.

Among the missing jewels are treasures linked to the history of the French monarchy and empirefrom presents of Napoleon’s wedding a ornaments of queens and empresses who represent centuries of tradition.

The researchers explore two main hypotheses: the theft could have been commissioned by a private collector or have as objective of selling precious stones individually, thus dismembering the historical jewels.

According to authorities, the thieves stopped on a road next to the River Seine and used an extension ladder to reach a high window which gives access to Apollo Galleryone of the most valuable areas of the museum.
