No. 2 Iowa State was hoping to snap an eight-game losing streak at Allen Fieldhouse by bringing a 16-0 undefeated record into Tuesday night’s game against Kansas.
But the Jayhawks had other plans, handing No. 2 Iowa State its first loss of the season in dominant fashion with an 84-63 win.

Kansas’ defense played its best game of the season, holding the Cyclones to a season-low in points and shooting 37% from the field. Meanwhile, the Jayhawks’ offense outpaced the Cyclones’ top 10 defense, putting up 84 points on 51% from the field. But it wasn’t just the Jayhawks who dominated. Committing 12 turnovers and shooting 55% free throws, the Cyclones were plagued all night.
The Jayhawks looked easy from three-point range in the first half, leading 44-23 at halftime. They kept the momentum going in the second quarter and got Iowa back within 11 at halftime, but went on a 13-0 run to lead by 21.

Tre White led the Jayhawks with 19 points, matching his season-high 15 points. Darrin Peterson, Melvin Council Jr. and Flory Bidunga had 16, 15 and 10 points, respectively, as three other Jayhawks starters reached double figures.

Joshua Jefferson led the Cyclones with 12 points, but his five steals and 50% free-throw shooting showed just how bad Iowa is in this game.
The Jayhawks improve to 2-2 in conference play and 12-5 overall, while the Cyclones are 3-1 in the Big 12 and 16-1 overall. Iowa has a tough time coming up with a home game against Houston before taking on BYU. Kansas will look to build on its best win streak of the season by hosting Baylor on Friday before traveling to Boulder to face Colorado.
