Jewish mothers are proud when their son or daughter becomes successful in sports, but then there is the greatest honor of all: their child appears on the matzah box.
Former Rolling Hills prep guard Benny Gealera Stanford senior averaging 10.6 points this season, is a candidate for the Manischewitz-sponsored L’Cheisman Trophy, which seeks to honor the Jewish school’s top sports athlete.
Forget the $10,000 reward. The most important reward in his mother’s mind is that the winner will appear on the cover of his limited edition matzah box.
So the Gealer family is in it.
Gealer was an All-CIF guard at Rolling Hills Prep who went to Stanford as a walk-on and now starts.
