This year, the Fall Breathe Retreat will be held on campus Nov. 10, 11, and 12. Sign-ups for the event — which costs $5 — will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during lunch and dinner between Oct. 29 and Nov. 9.
Junior Jenae Dunlop and her committee have been hard at work planning a weekend full of activities for students, highlighted by the speaker for the weekend, Pastor James Heyward. Pastor Heyward is an ENC alumnus from Virginia; he also sits on the board of trustees.
Breathe Retreat is a time to relax in the community and fellowship with friends, as well as to meet new friends, said Dunlop. She went on to say that it is a time for students to grow in their relationship with Christ and to be challenged.
Junior Paige Fehr has enjoyed past Breathe Retreats she’s attended.
“I love how it’s student-led and that it is students worshipping with other students,” Fehr said.
The event kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10 with a time of worship and a message from the weekend’s speaker. Following the meeting, there will be pizza and a movie, though the film has yet to be determined.
On Saturday, there will be morning devotions that will include Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and donuts. In the afternoon, a yet-to-be-determined outdoor activity will occur (in previous years, it has been capture the flag.) Another service will be held that night, featuring music and a second message from Pastor Heyward.
The retreat will conclude with a final service on Sunday morning.
“Just because the retreat is on campus does not mean it is not beneficial,” emphasized Dunlop.
Paige Fehr added, “I’ve really grown from my time at ENC and Breathe Retreat is a big part of that.”
