“So what? I didn’t crash!”

Pan-American Film Race.– Gael Garcia Bernal debuted as a racing driver, and there is at least one movie that could warn us that that is a bad idea.

In a facet that we did not know about him (at least, not with good references), Gael participated in the third stage of the Pan American Racewhich goes from the city of Puebla to the center of the country.

“Driving has given me the same fear as acting”declared the actor after debuting as a runner, a dream that had apparently been stuck since he filmed Rude and Corny.

Gael García runs as if “Jarocho” were chasing him

“I feel like a parachutist who has just landed, proud and very grateful to have been invited. Each curve was a learning curve; I was asking questions all the time. Poor Majo was overwhelmed with so many questions because she wanted to know everything”commented on his experience alongside the young tractor-trailer driver. Majo Rodríguezwho served as his guide and emergency therapist.

During the eight sections of the circuit, Gael was cheered by fanswho claimed that the actor was driving “as if the people of Jarocho were chasing him”—in reference to his legendary character from Dog loves.

García Bernal was the main guest of the weekend stage, along with the German driver Timo Bernhardthree-time Le Mans champion, and who, according to witnesses, “discreetly crossed himself” before getting into Gael’s car.

“It’s one of the things that surprised me; I never saw the speedometer. In reality, you’re feeling the machine and you don’t pay attention to the speed at which it’s going. At some point I realized that I was going over 200, although I don’t know where in the journey it was,” the actor explained without clarifying whether his co-pilot was still breathing at that point.
