Pedro Haces denies links between “El Limones” and CATEM
After announcing the arrest of Edgar “N”, alias “El Limones”, who is designated as the organizational secretary of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM), the leader of said organization, Pedro Haces, stated that the detainee “does not have, nor has had, any link with CATEM” and recalled that the only official information is that issued by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, which at “no time establishes any relationship with our organization.”
“CATEM is a confederation built with the honest effort of hundreds of thousands of workers. We are not going to allow lies to stain their work or the integrity of our organization. We will continue to move forward with legality, transparency and conviction, defending the rights of those who support Mexico every day,” he wrote on social networks.
The union headed by Morenista Pedro Haces Barba and right-hand man of Ricardo Monreal Ávila, has been denounced in Coahuila, Durango, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Querétaro and Chihuahua for cases of extortion.
Local media indicate that the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Oaxaca, just last July, initiated an investigation against leaders of materialists’ unions, including CATEM, due to the disappearance of four steel rod merchants from the State of Mexico who traveled to Ocotlán de Morelos.
