Giuliani, Powell and Meadows were included in Trump’s presidential pardon, which seeks to close “a grave national injustice” after the 2020 election.
Mexico City, November 10 (However).- The President of United States (EU), Donald Trumpgranted early this Monday a pardon to 77 people linked to the attempts to reverse the results of the elections presidential of 2020, which gave victory to Joe Biden. TrumpHowever, he never acknowledged defeat and continues not to do so.
He pardon higher profile corresponds to Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York and former personal attorney for Trump. The information was released by Ed Martinlawyer of the White House in charge of the pardonswho in his account of X describes himself, among other things, as “czar of the political persecution of Trump”.
Martin published a four-page document that speaks of “a proclamation that ends a grave national injustice perpetrated against the American people after the 2020 elections” and defines it as “one more step in the process of national reconciliation.”
The text signed by the President last Friday states: “I, Donald J. Trump, hereby grant a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all citizens of the United States for conduct related to the advice, creation, organization, execution, presentation, support, voting, activities or defense of any slate of presidential electors… in connection with the 2020 presidential elections.”

Despite the media importance, it is a symbolic pardon, since none of the beneficiaries face federal charges, and the President does not have the power to condone crimes that do not exist in federal courts. Martin reinforced the measure with an X message that read: “We will not leave any MAGA behind [Make America Great Again]”.
In addition to Giuliani, the list includes lawyer Sidney Powell, known for promoting the so-called “Big Lie” after Trump’s electoral defeat; attorney John Eastman; former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows; and Kenneth Chesbro, among others. Giuliani, for his part, could receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian distinction in the US, as confirmed by Martin.
This pardon is part of Trump’s strategy to maintain his narrative about the 2020 elections, and to settle scores with close collaborators and allies. On his first day in the White House after returning, the President pardoned nearly 1,600 people accused of crimes related to the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Since then, he has used the pardon as a tool to favor friends, collaborators and figures close to the MAGA movement.
The pardons are also presented as a reaction to the investigations of the House Committee of Representatives, made up of Democrats and Republicans, which for 18 months analyzed the events of January 6, 2021, when a mob of the Republican’s followers broke into the Capitol to prevent the certification of the electoral votes that confirmed Biden’s Presidency.
According to the Justice Department official who spoke with the AP and CNNpardons do not affect state or local positions. Some of the beneficiaries had been accused in Georgia of trying to subvert Trump’s electoral defeat, while others acted as false voters in several states, presenting false registration certificates despite Biden’s victory.
The proclamation defines these efforts to prosecute those involved as “a grave national injustice perpetrated against the American people” and maintains that the pardons seek to continue “the process of national reconciliation.”
