Neguinho da Beija-Flor debuts samba circle in Lisbon

Neguinho da Beija-Flor, one of the most notable voices in samba and the historic name of Beija-Flor de Nilópolis, is about to debut a new artistic project in Lisbon. The Neguinho da Beija-Flor Samba Roda at Lisboa Ao Vivo – LAV, is confirmed for March 7th and marks the beginning of an initiative designed to bring the artist closer to the public in a more intimate format.

In this first edition, Neguinho shares the stage with two guests: composer Moacyr Luz, creator of Samba do Trabalhador and author of classics from the Rio repertoire, and samba artist Vando Oliveira, his nephew and partner on the album Employing. O meeting brings together names from different generations of samba and proposes a circle centered on the tradition of the genre.

The spectacle appears after the end of Neguinho’s long cycle as official interpreter of Beija-Flora role he held for decades and with which he became intertwined with the history of Rio de Janeiro Carnival itself. Outside of the sambadrome, the singer maintains an active schedule of shows and recordings, now focusing on projects that value proximity to the public and the collective format of the samba circle.

The repertoire of the presentation in Lisbon includes hits that marked the samba singer’s career, as well as tracks from Employingmost recent work. The initiative reinforces the presence of Brazilian samba in the Portuguese capital, where Neguinho has expanded his artistic activities in recent years, as DN Brasil showed last year.

Tickets for the samba circle with Neguinho da Beija Flor in Lisbon are available for sale through from this link. Tickets cost between €25 and €40 and the show is scheduled for 9pm.
