French President Emmanuel Macron will receive his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Monday in Paris, the Elysee Palace announced this Saturday. “The two leaders will exchange views on the situation and the conditions for a fair and lasting peace, in the continuity of the Geneva discussions and the American plan, in close consultation with European partners”, he said.

This meeting announcement comes at a time when a team of Ukrainian negotiators left to the United States to discuss the American plan to end the conflict in Ukraine. “The secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, is already on his way to the United States with his team,” wrote Zelensky in a message published today on the social network X.

Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, was the target, from Friday night to today, of a new Russian drone attackoshours after Zelensky fired his chief of staff, Andriï Iermak, following an anti-corruption investigation.

A Washington proposal released last week, which included Moscow’s main demands, was initially welcomed by the Kremlin, but underwent changes following negotiations between North Americans, Ukrainians and Europeans.

On November 23, a meeting between Ukrainian, North American and European authorities took place in Geneva, where the parties discussed a proposed peace plan presented by Washington with the aim of putting an end to the war in Ukraine.

Following negotiations in Geneva, Ukraine and the United States agreed to continue working on joint proposals for a peace agreement.
