To promote the technological modernization of the Yucatecan productive sector, Digital Economy Week 2025 was presented, an initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Labor (SETY) in collaboration with the National Chamber of the Processing Industry (Canacintra), which will take place on December 2 and 3 at the Yucatán International Congress Center, reported in a bulletin.
The meeting will bring together more than 30 national and international speakers, including representatives of leading companies such as Google, Meta, Mercado Libre, Canva, Nacional Soft, DHL and Uber Eats, who will give conferences, workshops and panel tables on artificial intelligence, digital marketing, e-commerce and emerging technologies.
In his speech, the Secretary of Economy and Labor, Ermilo Barrera Novelo, stated that digital transformation is today a determining factor for business competitiveness, which is why it is given impetus through programs, alliances and public policies that accompany companies in the adoption of technologies and modernization of their processes.
Expectation
“A company that digitally transforms can grow up to 25% in its turnover and reduce its costs by 20%. But, above all, it manages to survive and prosper in a rapidly changing environment. In Yucatán we accompany MSMEs in this process with a comprehensive strategy that promotes innovation, productivity and technological modernization,” he said.
Digital Economy Week 2025 will also be the framework for the delivery of 200 technological tool kits to local companies as part of the Digital Transformation Strategy for Companies, through which SETY has trained more than 500 companies on topics of digital presence, artificial intelligence, social networks, management systems and cybersecurity, in collaboration with local digital transformers and strategic allies.
The president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) of Yucatán, Claudia González Góngora, stressed the importance of maintaining a joint effort between chambers and the government to accelerate the digitalization of the productive fabric.
“Digital transformation is no longer an option, it is a necessity. Today competitiveness is not measured only by the size or machinery of a company, but by its ability to adapt, innovate and use technology to grow. Thanks to this collaboration, more Yucatecan businesses will be able to compete in any market in the country or the world,” emphasized González Góngora.
Meanwhile, the president of the National Chamber of the Processing Industry in Yucatán, Alejandro Gómory Martínez, highlighted that this meeting reaffirms the commitment of the industrial sector to the development of talent and productivity:
“Digitalization allows companies to be more efficient, generate better jobs and take advantage of technologies to increase their competitiveness. Digital Economy Week is an opportunity to strengthen the capabilities of human capital and transform the industry through innovation,” said the business leader.
The 2025 edition will also have a stand area for local, national and international digital transforming companies, and with the participation of representatives of business chambers, academic institutions and allied organizations.
The presentation was also attended by the president of the National Chamber of the Electronic, Telecommunications and Information Technology Industry (Canieti) in Yucatán, Raúl Alfonso Rebolledo Alcocer; the president of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) Yucatán, Emilio Blanco del Villar; the representative of the Industries 4.0 Sector of the Investment Promotion Committee, Farique Cetina Carrillo; and the Undersecretary of Investment, Commerce and Industry of the SETY, Roger Góngora García, who reiterated their support for this initiative and the promotion of digital transformation in the state.
