Around 1,800 E-Redes customers still without electricity at 5pm this Sunday

Around 1,800 E-Redes customers in locations affected by Depression Kristin, which passed through mainland Portugal on January 28th, were still without electricity at 5pm this Sunday, February 22nd, according to that company.

In a statement sent to the Lusa agency, the EDP group company that operates energy distribution networks in mainland Portugal, under a concession regime, says that it remains “focused on reestablishing the supply of electricity”, as it has said in recent weeks.

E-Redes customers correspond to “energy delivery points” such as homes, companies or stores with electrical connections, making it difficult to quantify the number of people who are being affected.

In a previous assessment, at 7am on Friday, there were 4,500 E-Redes customers in locations affected by Depression Kristin who were still without electricity.

Eighteen people died in Portugal following the passage of depressions Kristin, Leonardo and Marta, which also caused many hundreds of injuries and displacement.

The total or partial destruction of homes, businesses and equipment, the fall of trees and structures, the closure of roads, schools and transport services, and the cut of energy, water and communications, floods and floods are the main material consequences of the storm.

The Centre, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and Alentejo regions were the most affected.
