The essential basket of 63 products, monitored by Deco PROteste, reached a new maximum of 254.32 euros this week, 0.19 euros more compared to the previous week.
“The food basket monitored by Deco PROteste costs 254.32 euros this week, which represents a slight increase of 0.19 euros compared to the previous week, reaching the highest value since the consumer protection organization began this analysis, in 2022”, he indicated this Thursday, March 19, in a statement.
Since the beginning of the year, buying this basic basket has cost R$12.49 more.
A year ago, the same purchase cost R$17.37 less, while at the beginning of 2022 it was possible to spend R$66.62 less.
The food basket includes meat, frozen foods, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, groceries and fish.
Among others, products such as turkey, chicken, horse mackerel, hake, onion, potato, carrot, banana, apple, orange, rice, spaghetti, sugar, ham, milk, cheese and butter are considered.
Between March 11 and 18, the products whose prices increased the most were fiber cereals (28%), crustless bread (13%) and whole grain cereals (11%).
Since January 5, 2022, when Deco began monitoring, the largest percentage increases were recorded in beef for cooking (121%), eggs (84%) and collard greens (87%).
