The Left Bloc calls for an independent audit, carried out by the General Inspectorate of Finance, of Carlos Moedas’ appointments since the beginning of his term at Lisbon City Council.
The request follows the controversy with Mafalda Livermore, girlfriend of Chega councilor Bruno Mascarenhas who was appointed to Lisbon’s social services and who ended up being dismissed following an RTP report that reported that she rented clandestine housing to immigrants and was suspected of alleged usurpation of functions by offering legal services. But the Bloc suspects that other appointments were the result of coordination between Carlos Moedas and Chega.
“It was certainly not in the Yellow Pages that Carlos Moedas met Mafalda Livermore. As far as we know, she was nominated because she was a Chega activist. But, taking into account the statements made by Chega deputies and leaders, saying that other positions were negotiated, it is necessary to know what they are. And, if Carlos Moedas does not answer the formal questions and the questions asked by councilors in the Lisbon City Council, all we can do is, for the sake of transparency, present a proposal for an audit of the IGF to appointments in this term, to find out if there was an exchange of favors in exchange for votes”, said Ricardo Moreira, councilor replacing BE, to TSF.
To audit However, it could be rejected, as the left is in the minority.
On Wednesday, Carlos Moedas assured: “I have no coalition with Chega, nor will I ever have one.” THE The mayor recalled that he dismissed Mafalda Livermore and said that the implications of the dismissal and disaffiliation of the now former Chega activist during Bruno Mascarenhas’ mandate have nothing to do with him. “This is Chega’s problem,” he said.
