Comissão Europeia invests 171 milhões in infrastructure and PME in the Western Balcãs

Up to 171 million euros are available in the European Commission to support the development of infrastructure and small and medium-sized enterprises in our Western Balcães, in the hope of an investment close to the investment of the European Union.

The European Commission says in a press release that these funds include 91.8 million euros earmarked for infrastructure projects in Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina in areas such as transport, the environment or the digital sector.

Projects financed from these funds include, for example, the renovation and construction of energy-efficient energy facilities in North Macedonia and Montenegro or the electrification of Albania’s national railway line.

Of the 76.3 million euros included in this package, it is intended for private sector programs to motivate public-private companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina or help small and medium-sized regional enterprises to export more products and services to the European Union (EU).

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, quoted in the press release, defends that investment in our Western Balcãs is essential to ensure that the EU gets closer to the region.

“Since we adopted the Growth Plan for the Western Balcãs for two years, we have worked hard to implement our compromises. From the transfer of infrastructures to companies, these investments create real opportunities for citizens and let us know what the EU is a concrete reality in the region,” he states.
