FC Porto advances to the quarter-finals of the Europa League after victory over Stuttgart

FC Porto today confirmed their qualification for the quarter-finals of the Europa League, by beating Stuttgart again, 2-0, in the second leg of the round of 16, played at Estádio do Dragão.

A week after the 2-1 victory in Germany, the ‘blue and whites’ completed their passage with goals from William Gomes (21 minutes) and Victor Froholdt (72), to participate in the ‘quarters’ of the second UEFA competition for the fifth time.

The Porto team reached this stage of the competition in 2000/01, 2002/03, 2010/11 and 2013/14, having won the trophy in 2003, still under the name of the UEFA Cup, and in 2011, already as the Europa League.

In the next round, FC Porto will meet former coach Vítor Pereira and English side Nottingham Forest, with whom they met in the league phase, playing the first leg at Estádio do Dragão, on April 9th, and the second in England, on the 16th of the same month.
