Catalan singer Rosalía performs this Wednesday, April 8, in Lisbon, in the first of two shows on the Portuguese leg of the tour for her recently released album “Lux”, which includes a duet with fado singer Carminho.
The “Lux” tour includes two shows in Lisbon, Wednesday and Thursday, at the MEO Arena, the singer announced on social media in December.
The 18 songs that make up Rosalía’s most recent album, “Lux”, were recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daníel Bjarnason, and feature guest appearances by artists such as Carminho, Björk, Estrella Morente, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Escolania de Montserrat, Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana, Yahritza and Yves Tumor.
Rosalía performed for the first time in Portugal in 2017, in a show at Theatro Circo, in Braga, where she showed her first album, titled “Los Angeles”, with guitarist and producer Raül Refree.
At the time, the press praised Rosalía for her new approach to flamenco and the classic Spanish song, inspired by the Andalusian song Camarón de la Isla.
The singer would return to Portugal in 2019 for the Primavera Sound festival, in Porto, with a new album, “El Mal Querer” (2018), with El Guincho in composition and production, which not only deepens the connection between flamenco and pop music but also achieves international recognition, adding collaborations with names such as Bad Bunny, Arca, J. Balvin and James Blake.
With this album, which included the songs “Malamente” or “Pienso en tu mirá”, he also won awards at the Grammy and Latin Grammy.
In 2022, she released “Motomami”, a conceptual, more experimental pop and reggaeton album, described by publisher Sony as “expansive, outside the box”, showing “a deeply modern musical self-portrait” of the Catalan artist.
“Motomami”, performed live in Portugal in 2022, in Lisbon and Braga, earned Rosalía a Grammy for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album.
The singer returned to Portugal in 2023 for a show at Porto Primavera Sound.
The “Lux” tour, which began in France, with concerts in Lyon and Paris, also includes dates in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the United States, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Puerto Rico.
