Go Chill Porto Pro takes Portuguese surfing elite to Porto and Matosinhos between April 24th and 26th

The Porto and Matosinhos stage is one of the most emblematic of the national circuit and remains one of the most popular with the public. In 2025, Tomás Fernandes and Teresa Bonvalot won the event titles, in an edition in which 88 surfers participated and 837 waves were surfed, with emphasis on the best wave (9.50 points) and best score (17.50 points), both recorded by Teresa Bonvalot.

For the Secretary of Sports and Youth of Porto Alegre, Rodrigo Passos, the stage takes on particular relevance in 2026, the year in which the city assumes the title of National Capital of Youth. “It is with great enthusiasm that the Municipality of Porto is once again participating in the MEO Surf League, one of the highlights of the national calendar and a showcase of Portuguese talent. This competition takes on an even more special meaning, consolidating the city as a stage of excellence for young athletes and as a destination of choice for surfing”, he stated.

The Sports councilor of the Matosinhos City Council, Nuno Matos, also highlighted the strategic importance of the sport for the municipality: “Matosinhos maintains a deeply rooted relationship with the sea, becoming a reference territory for the practice of sliding sports, with particular emphasis on surfing.” The mayor also highlighted the impact of the test: “The holding, in 2026, of a stage of the MEO Surf League at Praia de Matosinhos constitutes a clear recognition of the work carried out by the Municipality in promoting surfing and the territory’s capacity to host competitions of national prestige.”

Organized by the National Association of Surfers, the MEO Surf 2026 League continues in Porto and Matosinhos as the most urban stage of the circuit, promising three days of intense competition and guaranteed spectacle on the waves of the North.
