The tension was palpable this Friday, April 17, 2026 at Christelle Record’s farm located in Baulou, in Ariège. At the end of a standoff lasting almost ten hours, the breeder finally agreed to bring back her animals, hidden upstream, to carry out the automatic vaccination against DNC, required by state services.
“For me, it’s a failure,” says Christelle Record, in tears. The farmer located in Baulou, in Ariège, knows that she no longer has any recourse to avoid vaccinating her herd against lumpy skin disease (LCD), a measure contested by the breeder. After several hours of searching, the police finally identified the location where the rest of his livestock was located, hidden ahead of the visit by state services, this Friday, April 17, 2026.
By early afternoon, about ten of his animals had been vaccinated. First in a field in Cadarcet, then in his stable on the farm. Most of the herd was still safe, but the police eventually found their trail. Under pressure, Christelle Record finally agreed to bring her animals back to her farm, hidden “two hours’ walk away”. Those around her claimed that she was threatened with police custody in the event of a contrary decision.
According to the prefecture, the movement of the herd was carried out completely illegally, “because an administrative measure banning the movement of its unvaccinated cattle was notified to it last month”.
“I think I’ll stop…”
“It’s a decision with serious consequences because I would never have made this decision normally, but there are too many things at stake, breathes Christelle Record, her voice trembling. I’m going to decide to have them (the animals) vaccinated. Police custody absolutely doesn’t scare me, but there are people who are involved with me. They (the police) are making threats. I’m going to go get my animals, because I don’t want them to be targeted like this (Friday) morning.”

The farmer, in shock, questions the future of her activity. “I think I’m going to stop because I won’t be able to vaccinate a second time. I will make a decision quickly,” confides Christelle Record to her loyal supporters still present.
Symbolic actions could take place upon his return, according to some demonstrators on site.
