The socialist leader, José Luís Carneiro, accused this Tuesday, April 14, the Government of being “aimless” and not listening to the PS, but assured the President of the Republic of the “unbreakable will to place the country’s interests above party interests”.
“The Government, unfortunately, insists on not listening to the Socialist Party, but we could not fail to convey to the President of the Republic our unbreakable will to place the country’s interests above party interests and to serve the Portuguese men and women”said the secretary general of the PS after an audience, at his request, with António José Seguro, at Palácio de Belém, in Lisbon.
From José Luís Carneiro’s perspective, the meeting with the President of the Republic was “very constructive”.
“The framework of international life is a complex and very demanding framework on a geopolitical and geostrategic level. It is also very demanding from an economic point of view and we look at the country’s Government as a Government without direction, in which each ministry truly seems at times like a Government and, in some cases, even a certain amount of misgovernment”, he accused.
After expressing concern about this situation, the socialist leader showed the PS’s availability “to serve Portuguese women and men”.
“We reiterate, once again, our willingness to cooperate in areas vital to national life. Firstly, the areas of defense and security, the areas of civil protection and also our contributions to economic and social development”these.
José Luís Carneiro was received today by António José Seguro following the 25th National Congress of the PS, in an audience that lasted around an hour and in which he was accompanied by the president of the PS, Carlos César.
