‘Justice Numbers’ Platform Launched with Outdated Data

Do you want to know how many cases there are in progress for corruption crimes? Or convicted of domestic violence? Or even the evolution of applications for Portuguese nationality? These and other data are now publicly available, on the new “Números da Justiça” platform. O site interactive was launched this Wednesday, March 18, in a ceremony at the Justice Campus, with the presence of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice. However, the platform still has very outdated data.

In some of the indicators, the most recent data is from 2023. In response to DN at the press conference, the minister explained that the platform will still evolve. “Our idea is exactly this, that through interoperability systems we can also have faster, more accessible and more current information”, he explained.

“It is essential, because if not, today the statistical information that is often available has a bias, it may not be statistical information because it has time and takes time to be processed, but management data can be provided more quicklyif upstream, too, the collection is done well”, he adds.

Susana Antes Vieira, general director of Justice Policy, highlighted that the platform is for dissemination, not collection. “Understand that the platform that we formally launched is a platform for disseminating statistical information, It is not a statistical data collection platform, in the sense of the process that we are going to collect”, he explained.
